The Man Behind the Screen

I’m a Texan through and through. My first exposure to the theatre was when my third grade English class put on a play about pirates where I played the infamous Blackbeard. I can still feel the itchy polyester beard across my face and hear my mom’s laugh from when I went on stage for the first time. From that moment on, my passion for acting only grew along with my love for film. However, it wasn’t until I watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty when I was 14 that I realized I wanted to do this with my life.

While I was in high school, I also developed a capacity for the camera starting with photography and growing into videography and cinematography as time went on. I became fixated on how certain expressions and movements change in appearance at different focal lengths. The camera became a character for storytelling in my head; another sort of actor to work off in scene. It sent me down a rabbit hole, wanting to know everything I could about every facet of filmmaking to be a better collaborator on all fronts, including in my performance. In order to accomplish that, I attended The University of Texas at Austin to study both filmmaking and acting.

Stinky. Condescending. Needy. I have no shame, and will do horrendous things on camera to be told I’m a good boy.

Outside of filmmaking, I have a background in outdoorsmanship, cooking, and playing practically every sport imaginable, trying everything from baseball to ultimate frisbee. I went camping or hiking every other weekend growing up either through Boy Scouts or on my own. I’ve always enjoyed exploring the unknown, being thrilled to seek out the natural and human-made wonders of the world. and tasting different cultures and way-of-lives along the way. I love finding out about the world and the humanity inside of it . . . just like my characters.
